A 19th-century café, then a confectioner’s shop with a liquor store and ‘Purveyor of the Royal House of Savoy’, Barberis is considered the temple of sweetness in Valenza, a historic meeting point for the great families of the goldsmith’s art. In 2006, it had to leave its original premises. In the new premises it preserves the 20th-century counter, the elegant furnishings of high boiserie dating back to the founding and continues, with passion, the tradition of the original recipes elaborated in over a century of activity, including truffles, macaroons, ladyfingers and panfrutto, a butterless cake invented during wartime.
