IRUNA CAFE (est. 1888)

Pamplona (Navarra), Spain

The Historic Café Iruña was founded in 1888 and is located in the Plaza del Castillo of Pamplona, in the heart of the city. This legendary Cafe was one of Ernest Hemingway’s favorites, and today it is a sure destination for all those who want to enjoy their coffee or drink, following the steps of the great writer …

Cafe Iruña is also one of the most important historic sites in Spain since it was one of the first shops in the city to be lit by electricity.

For the locals, Cafe Iruña is a “jewel” for the city. It has two rooms, one larger, where the main Cafe is housed, and a smaller one with marble tables, ornate luminaires, and large mirrors. One of its key features is that since its inauguration Café Iruña has maintained high standards, respecting tradition, history, and the culture of the country.

In Café there is a corner dedicated to the Nobel Prize for Literature, in honor of Ernest Hemingway.
