EHICA participated in the 9th International Advisory Forum “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe held in Sibiu, Romania, 2-4 October 2019 to present the 10th International Advisory Forum “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe to be held in Chania 7 -9 October 2020.
Vasilis Stathakis, Founder and President of EHCA, proposed in 2017 to host this important International Forum in Chania, a proposal supported by the Council of Europe, the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sport, the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organisation, the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Chania, & the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Chania.
During the Sibiu Forum, the Greek delegation, whose members were George Kalamantis Head of International Relations and European Union Directorate of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sport, Margarita Lioulia, from the Department of International Relations of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Culture, Vassilis Stathakis, Founder and President of EHICA and Yiannis Karachristos, Ph.D. in Modern Greek History from Vienna University, Associate Researcher at the Hellenic Folklore Research Centre of the Academy of Athens and Academic Staff at the Hellenic Open University, head of the team preparing the dossier for the new route “Historic Cafes Route”, have successfully promoted and presented the 10th International Consultative Forum “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe in Chania on 7-9 October 2020.
The Greek delegation had also separate meetings with the Director-General of the Council of Europe, Mrs. Snezana Markovic, and the Executive Secretary of the Council of Europe’s Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes, and Director of the Institute of Cultural Routes, Mr. Stephano Dominioni to discuss issues related to the organization of the 2020 Forum in Chania.

It is worth noting that the promotion of the 10th International Advisory Forum “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe to be held in Chania on 7-9 October 2020 has been quite successful, since the idea of EHICA’s Founder and President Vassilis Stathakis to offer local products of Crete at Sibiu, brought to the exhibition table of Greece all the participants of the forum who said that they will be more than happy to visit Chania, Crete next year!
