13 Jul Congrats! Valletta’s Caffe Cordina becomes a member of European Historic Cafes Association
Right one! Valletta’s iconic Caffe Cordina has become a member of the European Historic Cafes Association! The association, launched in April 2014, aims to preserve the heritage and history that comes with historic cafes in Europe ensuring the survival of such a rare culture.
“THIS IS AWESOME!” Caffe Cordina shared on social media today. “Did you know that our very own Caffe Cordina is a member of the European Historic Cafes Association? Do you know why? Because we were founded in 1837. Now that is a long time of bringing a little pleasure to the world!”
Caffe Cordina has been around since 1837 and is a well-known local family business. But did you know it began its journey as a humble confectionary in Bormla? Yup! Since then, it has become the prestigious cafe in the capital, first relocated in 1944 by the late Cesare Cordina.
“Situated in a beautiful, historic palazzo with an exquisite interior, Cesare Cordina enlarged the coffee shop over the years to include a restaurant, tea room, pasticceria, coffee bar and gelateria,” the cafe’s portfolio on the association’s website reads.
“Caffe Cordina produces its own hand-made, traditional sweets and pastries in-house and also has a line of gourmet products. The family of Cesare Cordina continues to maintain the same high standards of quality, service, and innovation.”
